C.J. Stroud and the Ohio State Buckeyes are preparing for their bowl game at the Rose Bowl against the Utah Utes, which also means that the quarterback will get to play an important game in his home state of California. However, what he recently said about college football fans from California could earn him some boos when he steps on the field against the Utes on Jan. 1.

Asked about what he thinks it is that sets apart California programs from the others, Stroud did not hold back and dropped a truth bomb.

Via Austin Nivison of 247 Sports:

“I think that does play a big part,” Stroud said. “You got to these USC and UCLA games, and to be quite honest, it’s kind of boring. There’s not a lot of people. The fans aren’t really in tune. They’re just kind of there on vacation and whatnot. You got to these other schools out of state, and their fans are kind of like fanatics. They don’t really care what people think about them. They’re wearing all type of stuff. They’re yelling at the top of their lungs. With that comes great responsibility because you do get criticized as well. It’s a slippery slope. It’s a two-way street. If you want a lot of fans to be supporting you, they’ll be hating on you as well. I definitely do think it plays a big part in leaving home because you just want that type of support.”

C.J. Stroud can expect that USC, UCLA, and Utah fans have already heard what he had just said. That would be added fuel, especially for Utes fans, on game day.

Expect C.J. Stroud and the Buckeyes to be locked in, though. They are still mad about losing to the Michigan Wolverines late last month, so this matchup against Utah is an opportunity for Ohio State to vent out their frustrations on missing the boat to the College Football Playoff.
