Giannis Antetokounmpo is officially a champion, fulfilling a promise he made via tweet to the Milwaukee Bucks and their fans all the way back in 2014 when he was still just a skinny youngster. After his rookie season, Giannis took to Twitter to make this promise.

Nailed it:

There was plenty of chatter after the Bucks' failure in the bubble last year that Giannis Antetokounmpo might bolt and form a superteam elsewhere. Instead, Antetokounmpo stayed the course and signed his supermax. He has now been rewarded for his faith in the franchise.

During his postgame press conference, Antetokounmpo made sure to point out that he didn't leave for supposedly greener pastures to team up with other superstars. He stayed loyal to Milwaukee and got it done with the team that drafted him back in 2013, when barely anybody knew he was. The Bucks star just kept working and working on his game, and he ultimately was able to break through and get to the top after several years of playoff disappointment.

Now, a cynical person would say that this tweet means Giannis Antetokounmpo will leave after getting Milwaukee to the promised land. But there's no real reason to think that. The Bucks star could very well wind up leaving the Bucks at some point in the future, but he's now a made man who's officially a franchise legend. He's going to get a statue outside Fiserv Forum and is on path to be an all-time great.

It's very rare these days, but it would be cool if The Greek Freak spent his whole career with the franchise.
