The Milwaukee Bucks selected one of the more intriguing prospects in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft, adding MarJon Beauchamp to their ranks via the 24th overall pick. Now gearing up for his rookie year in Milwaukee, Beauchamp revealed that he received a text message from none other than Giannis Antetokounmpo after being drafted. Via Lily Zhao, the rookie revealed that Giannis reached out to welcome him to the team and tell him they were going to win a championship.

Beauchamp didn't even try to hide the fact that he was starstruck after receiving a text from the two-time MVP, admitting that was the moment he realized “this was real.”

Fair play to the kid, it's hard to imagine anyone keeping their cool after receiving a surprise text from Giannis. Now, he'll be focused on trying to get on the court and help make an impact in that title run that the Greek Freak mentioned.

Beauchamp joins the Bucks out of the G-League Ignite. Across 21 games for the Ignite, Beauchamp averaged 15.7 points, 2.1 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and shot at a solid 53.5% clip. Prior to making the move to the G-League Ignite, Beauchamp had played college ball at Yakima Valley College.

The 6'5″ guard has elected to wear No. 0 with the Bucks, a reference to the fact that he came up from nothing. His work ethic and dedication to improving his craft are things that Giannis can certainly relate to. While he's still starstruck by his new teammate, it shouldn't take long for Beauchamp to get more used to seeing the two-time MVP around the Bucks' facilities.
