Off the court, Karl-Anthony Towns has been through the unimaginable over the last year. The Minnesota Timberwolves star lost multiple family members to COVID-19, including his mother Jacqueline. Towns has been open and vocal about the struggles he has and continues to go through as he tries to navigate his life through all the heartbreak. Recently Towns talked about the role Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has played in helping the Wolves center.

The Bucks' Greek Freak has been through something similar, losing his own father as a player back in 2017.

Chris Hine of the Star Tribune notes that over the last year Antetokounmpo has talked with Towns to try and help as he himself had to deal with the loss of a parent while still balancing his NBA career.

“I kind of know how much he hurts. I know how hard it is to lose someone you love and then you gotta go and still do your job. It's extremely hard. I told him I love him, stay healthy and I'll see you soon,” shared the Bucks star.

“I don't think he gets enough publicly how much of a man he is, but I'll say it for him, even though I know he won't,” Towns said of Bucks' Antetokounmpo. “I appreciate him and the way he's reached out to me during my time. We really built a friendship there. I'm really appreciative of him and the amount of care he's put into me and my family.”

On the court, Towns has been his “normal” self this year while juggling everything he has to off the court. After being on the health and safety protocols list himself for an extended time, Towns came back to the lineup earlier this year appearing not to have skipped a beat. In 28 games, he's averaging 23.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
