Former lottery pick Hasheem Thabeet is attempting to make his way back to the NBA and is now set to work out with the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to Ben Stinar of Amico Hoops, Thabeet is scheduled to try out for the Bucks in the upcoming week after spending the past year conditioning and getting his body in shape.

Thabeet, the second overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, has been a major disappointment, especially considering the fact that he was selected ahead of guys like James Harden, Stephen Curry, DeMar DeRozan and Jrue Holiday. He hasn't played in the league since the 2013-14 season when he suited up for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Since then, he's spent time playing in the G League where he also didn't make a significant impact. Thabeet played in Japan back in 2017.

Informing NBA teams about his physical condition will not guarantee him a contract. However, if Thabeet impresses the Bucks, he could be part of a championship team that is set to redeem themselves after losing to the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Bucks are actually thin at the power forward position. Aside from reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team doesn't have a reliable backup off the bench. They recently signed another former lottery pick in Dragan Bender, but he also hasn't been able to live up to expectations.

It's unclear if Thabeet will actually make it to Milwaukee's roster. After all, competition in training camp is intense, especially with two-way players and Exhibit 10 signees also vying for a roster spot. Still, it will give the 32-year-old an opportunity to prove that he still belongs in the NBA.
