The Buffalo Bills at first were seen as a squad that merely pulled a few upsets coming into the season, but now that notion has been completely eradicated from the storyline.

They've overthrown their division rivals in the New England Patriots and currently hold the No.1 spot in the AFC East. At 8-3, Buffalo has clearly exceeded the expectations of commentators and pundits alike.

The Bills' latest victory came in Week 12 against an underperforming Los Angeles Chargers squad, but it's only one of many games that's composed their victorious season. They've won three of their last four contests, two of which came against some formidable opponents such as the Arizona Cardinals.

As they prep for Week 13, they'll be going up against a desperate San Francisco 49ers club. The Niners have been hobbled over the majority of the season and are in the midst of trying to right that ship before the ultimate ending of the season. They have the slightest chance still of making the playoffs, but that gap could narrow significantly more following a loss to the Bills on Monday.

This will be the first meeting between the two clubs this season. Here are a few predictions on what could occur when they take the field.

4. Bills' continue sack trend

For the earlier part of the season, the Bills defense would often cost them leads and even sometimes games that were within their reach. The storyline was often spoken of how the pass rushers couldn't match up to the talent on the offensive side of the ball. In the last few weeks though, the Bills have flipped the script.

Buffalo's defense totaled five sacks against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9, which arguably set the tone for their consecutive outings in posting sacks compared to their prior weeks.

They'll be going up against a 49ers club that ranks 18th in pass attempts this season, which could be due to the inconsistency that's rained on their quarterback parade this season. Expect the Bills to total at least three sacks on Monday.

3. Allen scrambles for 2 TDs

Besides being a dominating quarterback in the passing game, Allen has excelled in the Bills' efforts by grabbing 6 rushing touchdowns throughout the season. He's second on the team in rushing yards with 311 behind Devin Singletary. Even so, the 24-year old has tallied more scores through rushes than Singletary.

While he hasn't developed into a phenomenal scrambler, his performances this season suggest that he could make a dramatic improvement in that area as his career progresses.

The 49ers defense has been pretty stellar this season, ranking sixth in touchdowns allowed from rushing efforts. Even so, they let New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill get away with 45 rushing yards in Week 10. If those same efforts were presented to Allen, it'd likely result in a few endzone celebrations.

Allen will have two touchdowns from rushing efforts by the end of the contest.

2. Bills allow Mostert to rush for 75-plus yards, 3 TDs

Raheem Mostert's availability this season has been relatively spotty given his accumulation of injuries. His latest bout with a high ankle sprain saw him miss considerable time, and he was finally able to return to action in Week 12 against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams boast a top-tier defense, which should've shut down any comeback performances from Mostert. While he wasn't completely back up to speed, he did show signs of improvement after shaking off some early rust. The six-year halfback is coming off a 772-yard rushing season during the 2019 season.

While he isn't on par to meet or exceed those numbers given the time he spent sidelined, he's still on schedule with helping the 49ers keep alive their slim playoff chances.

The Bills have been more than generous in allowing rushers to have their way despite their step up in defensive pressure lately. They still rank 29th in touchdowns allowed from rushing while ranking 25th in yards allowed. If Mostert wasn't working his way back from his ankle injury, the predictions of his end-game numbers would be higher.

1. Bills win in a 4th quarter showdown

Given their recent level of play, the Bills are likely going to ride this momentum until the end of the season, give or take a game or two. While the 49ers are coming off a win, they had recently lost their last three games prior to Week 12.

The 49ers will also still be without Jimmy Garoppolo, who suffered a sprained ankle in Week 7. Mullens will lead the offense once more, which could spell trouble early on for the 49ers. He's thrown more interceptions than touchdowns in his last two outings.

San Francisco may pose a threat early on simply due to the growing desperation of not watching their season go down the drain, but that momentum will surely subside.
