As we all know, the great Michael Jordan took a break from basketball during the 1993-94 to pursue a career in baseball. That did not turn out too well for him, which prompted a glorious return to the Chicago Bulls a season later.

Baseball legend Alex Rodriguez weighed in on Jordan's venture, and to much surprise, the New York Yankees great actually believes that this was one of best decisions the former Bulls great ever made.

“I thought that what he tried to do in baseball is one of the greatest accomplishments in his career,” Rodriguez said about the Bulls legend, via Justin Barrasso of SI. “He’s getting on a bus and playing Double-A. That’s one of the hardest leagues to play in because that’s where all the great pitching goes, the fire ballers throwing north of 95 miles an hour. The weather was north of 95 degrees, and you’re on buses, not on planes.

“Unfortunately, the benchmark as a great, Hall-of-Fame hitter is .300. Because you’re Michael Jordan, you’re going to be judged on a completely unfair barometer. For him to have a hitting streak, to hit north of .200, and to steal so many bases, I just thought it was remarkable.”

That's some valuable input from a guy who is widely considered as one of the greatest baseball players of all time. In that respect, it's safe to say that Rodriguez is an authority in this particular matter. In turn, it probably allows for some to look at Jordan's decision to leave the Bulls at the time in a slightly different lens.

Be that as it may, it's hard to argue that it was a better decision for Jordan to turn his back on baseball after one season. We just can't imagine what would have happened if he decided not to.
