Chicago Bulls forward Bobby Portis turned a lot of heads with his strong performance on Thursday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. He led the team's charge by recording an NBA career-high of 38 points, to go along with eight rebounds and three assists. However, the Bulls came up short and fell to their opponents, 116-115.

When asked how he feels about his performance on the night, the 23-year-old Arkansas product made it known that his production “doesn't really matter” especially with the loss. He also added, via K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, that his main task is to help the Bulls win games.

This can definitely be considered a mature response from Bobby Portis, which also goes to show how much he wants to bring back the glory days of the Bulls. Together with Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine, and Lauri Markkanen, he is expected to be one of the team's cornerstones for the years to come and be the focal points as they try to speed up their rebuilding process.

The Bulls are currently not having a lot of success this season and only have a 20-38 record to show, good for 12th place in the Eastern Conference.

The good news for them is they have a player like Portis, who is more focused on the team's welfare rather than his personal achievements. After all the drama involving him and Nikola Mirotic earlier this season, he appears to be past that now and wants to prove that he deserves to be part of the Bulls' future plans.

Portis, who played two seasons for the Arkansas Razorbacks before turning pro in 2015, is averaging 12.5 points on 47.0 percent shooting from the floor and 6.4 rebounds per game so far this season.

Portis and the Bulls will take a rest on Friday, then will swing by Target Center in Minneapolis on Saturday to face the Minnesota Timberwolves. Chicago has won six of its last 10 games in Minnesota dating back to 2008.
