Chicago Bulls have made their first big move of the 2022 NBA offseason, signing free agent center Andre Drummond. Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first one to report this deal.

Adrian Wojnarowski later reported the full details of the Andre Drummond-Bulls deal: two years, $6.6 million with a player option in Year 2.

One of the biggest issues of the Bulls last season was their lack of rebounding and frontcourt depth. They added Tristan Thompson midway through, but it didn't quite pan out for them. The hope is that Drummond can help cover for Nikola Vucevic's deficiencies on defense, while also providing a minor spark on offense.

Andre Drummond isn't the same 20-20 guy that used to dominate the rebounding leaderboards. The center doesn't quite have the athletic ability to do that anymore. However, over the last few years, Drummond has found a role as a reliable back-up big man for any team. He's still good enough to hang with other backup centers without dominating the offense.

The Bulls last season were one of the most hyped-up teams in the NBA. Their ungodly defense and DeMar DeRozan's breakout season made them an instant fan-favorite in the East. However, injuries and regression to the mean immediately sent them crashing back down to earth. They were eventually eliminated by the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks in the first round.

Despite the humiliating loss, though, the Bulls have plenty to be excited about. They will continue to build around their new-found core of DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Lonzo Ball. Can they finally break through next season?
