Chicago Bulls rookie point guard Coby White tweaked his back before Thursday's practice and didn’t participate.

Bulls head coach Jim Boylen told reporters he thinks White “can work his way through this,” but the rookie's status for Saturday's game against the New York Knicks is unclear:

White has appeared in every game for the Bulls this season. He's currently playing the best basketball of his rookie season, as the youngster is the first rookie in NBA history to score 30-plus points in three consecutive games coming off the bench.

The Bulls didn’t draft White with the seventh overall pick to be a bench player. Eventually, Chicago will hand the keys to the offense to White and let him run the show. It just won’t happen this season.

The Bulls have been starting Tomas Satoransky this season at the point guard spot. With that said, it is unlikely for White to start a single game this season unless Satoransky joins Kris Dunn on the shelf.

White is averaging 12.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game on the season. He's shooting 38.7 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 77.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulls are 20-39 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings, but still kind of alive in the playoff picture since the back half of the East is so bad.
