The Chicago Bulls have been battered and bruised by the dreaded COVID-19 health and safety protocols as of late, with more than half the roster being forced on the sideline because of it. That didn’t stop DeMar DeRozan from leading the men available to a resounding win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
After the win, DeMar DeRozan spoke out on overcoming the absence of Bulls running mate Zach LaVine, including the text he sent to the All-Star still dealing with Covid protocols.
“He makes my job so much easier,” DeRozan said of his Bulls teammate. “I texted him after the game, ‘Get your ass back as soon as possible.'”

DeRozan poured in 38 huge points to spearhead the Bulls’ offensive attack, half of which came in the decisive fourth quarter as his 19 in the final frame keyed a clutch win over the purple and gold. DeMar got the better of LeBron James, who tallied 31 points of his own to lead the LA side.

"There's a calmness to him. He doesn't get rattled."— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) December 20, 2021
DeMar DeRozan has arguably been the Bulls’ best player this season, which is saying something given that a handful were skeptical of the potential fit with LaVine. Safe to say they’ve laid all those concerns to rest so far.
