Jim Boylen had something to say. The Chicago Bulls pulled off a massive 109-106 home victory over the L.A. Clippers on Saturday. Pundits, however, have already diminished their win given how the Clippers were without three of their key players.
Bulls head coach Jim Boylen fired back at the critics, saying that they were missing some of their guys as well, per K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
Witty answer from the hard-nosed coach.
Zach LaVine led the way with 31 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. With the game knotted at 106, the high-flying guard made the game-winning and-one layup with 2.0 seconds remaining to give the Bulls the three-point win.
Chicago trailed by five points with 1:45 remaining in the game. They finished the contest on an 9-1 run, highlighted by timely three-pointers from LaVine and Denzel Valentine, and of course, LaVine's game-winning play.
This was certainly an impressive win for Chicago, even if the Clippers were without their superstar Kawhi Leonard, super-sub Lou Williams, and defensive point guard Patrick Beverley.
The Bulls, meanwhile, are without starting forward Otto Porter Jr., rookie big man Daniel Gafford, and Chris Hutchison.
Sure, missing those three don't equal the loss of Kawhi, Pat Bev, and Sweet Lou. Still, you have to give credit for the young Bulls squad for defeating a surging team like the Clippers, who were still with an MVP candidate in Paul George.
The Bulls look to carry the momentum from this morale-boosting victory when they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.
