With the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend happening in Chicago, it only makes sense to have a local player in the All-Star game, right? Well, Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen certainly thinks so.

While he hasn't led the Bulls to much success this year, Boylen believes that Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine deserves to be an All-Star.

In his third season as a Bull, the 6-foot-6 guard has enjoyed a career year. Averaging 24.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game, LaVine certainly has put up All-Star caliber numbers.

However, LaVine's play hasn't translated to many wins in Chicago. At 15-27, the Bulls sit outside the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.

The 24-year-old high-flyer is part of a young Bulls core that features Wendell Carter Jr., Lauri Markannen and Coby White — all of whom are 24 years old or younger.

Boylen took over for a fired Fred Hoiberg towards the beginning of last season. Boylen has been on the Bulls' coaching staff since 2015 but in his first 100 games as the team's head coach, he is just 32-68.

While LaVine has yet to be named to an All-Star game throughout his six-year NBA career, it's worth noting that the former UCLA star has won two NBA Dunk Contests in 2015 and 2016.

Zach LaVine has gone on to say that he would be willing to try for a third dunk title if he were to be selected for this year's All-Star game. In the recently released fan voting numbers for the game, the Bulls star ranks fifth among Eastern Conference guards after accumulating over 570,000 fan votes.
