On Tuesday, it was announced that Philadelphia Sixers star center Joel Embiid won the Eastern Conference Player of the Month Award. Chicago Bulls superstar Zach LaVine took to social media to share his thoughts.

Clearly, LaVine is not a believer. His teammate, DeMar DeRozan was also one of the key candidates up for the award. DeRozan led the Bulls to a 9-2 record in the month of December. But in the eight games he played in, the Bulls won all of them. He averaged better than 29 points per game, to go along with over four rebounds and almost six assists per game. DeRozan was also extremely efficient, shooting 53% from the field and 63% from downtown.

A lot of DeRozan's damage can when it mattered most. He 2nd half and 4th quarter scoring were among the tops in the league last month. He finished the month in style.

Just for good measure, DeRozan kept up the heroics in January. In the very next game, DeRozan hit another buzzer-beater to win a game with a tough, contested three-pointer as time expired against the Washington Wizards.

DeRozan had a great case for the award. But so did Embiid. Embiid finished the month of December averaging over 29 points per game, over 11 rebounds, almost four assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Those are huge numbers as well. However, he did not enjoy the same level of team success as the Sixers went 8-6 in the month of December.

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell took home the Player of the Month Award for the Western Conference.
