Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever take on the Seattle Storm. Our WNBA odds series has our Fever Storm prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Fever Storm.

The Indiana Fever were about to win their seventh game in nine outings on Sunday. They had a 14-point lead over the Chicago Sky in the third quarter and were rolling along, continuing to soar with confidence and cohesion as a team which had newly discovered a winning formula. Caitlin Clark, who had to go straight from the Women's Final Four to the WNBA without a whole lot of rest, was blitzed by WNBA opponents in the first month of the Indiana Fever's season. She had a lot to learn, and it all came at her too quickly. WNBA schedule makers didn't do Clark or the Fever any favors by packing a lot of games in the first few weeks of the schedule, also against top teams. The schedule was set up for Indiana to fail in those early weeks. Once the Fever arrived at a softer period in their schedule, with more rest days and fewer games against the top tier of the league, Caitlin Clark began to find her sea legs. She began to understand the rhythms of the pro game better. She looked fresher and more prepared. It was, in many ways, a natural and organic product of the competition becoming more manageable for Clark, an undeniably elite player who just needed more time to figure things out. She did, and the Fever started winning. They were about to win again in Chicago, but they squandered that 14-point lead down the stretch and lost to the Sky by one, 88-87.

The Fever have had three days off in which to study why they let that game get away. Will they come back better than ever on Thursday night against the Seattle Storm, or will their confidence be shaken? That's the big and fascinating question attached to this game, as the WNBA season resumes after the brief break for the Commissioner's Cup final on Tuesday.

Why The Fever Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Fever are a lot better than they were a month ago. We talked above about Caitlin Clark needing more time, getting more rest, and simply going through a natural process of understanding WNBA basketball and how much more physical it is compared to college ball. All the great players go through this transition and know they are going to have some growing pains. Clark has dealt with those bumps in the road and is a better, tougher professional basketball player as a result. Her Indiana teammates have stepped up as well, and now the Fever can spend the second half of the WNBA season pursuing a playoff berth which seemed like a fantasy during the disastrous 1-8 start to the campaign. This is an improved team. It's a wiser team. It's also a team getting nine whole points against the spread. Indiana lost at Seattle by only two points, 85-83, earlier this season. Yes, Indiana against the spread looks like a solid play.

Why The Storm Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Storm are a much better team than the one which beat Indiana by only two points at home earlier in the season. Seattle just handled the Connecticut Sun this past Sunday with a strong defensive effort. If the Storm play that level of defense against Caitlin Clark and the Fever, they will win this game by 15.

Final Fever-Storm Prediction & Pick

The Storm have gotten consistently better over the course of the season, playing quality defense and getting full buy-in from their veteran core. Indiana's recent wins have primarily come against the lower half of the league, not teams as good as Seattle. Take the Storm.
