The Arizona Cardinals unexpectedly lost to the Detroit Lions in Week 15. It was the second loss in a row for Arizona, who has now dropped from the #1 seed in the NFC to the #4 seed. In the loss, starting running back James Conner suffered a heel injury.

Conner then was listed as a DNP Tuesday, but the team did not actually practice that day. However, he did not practice on Wednesday either. That is a serious cause for concern for Conner fantasy owners ahead of their semi-final matchup.

In that same game against the Lions, the Cardinals got the services of Chase Edmonds back. Edmonds had missed the last four games after being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. With Edmonds returning to the lineup, it looked more like the time share fantasy football managers were accustomed to seeing early in the season.

Conner's snaps and touches were way down from the bell cow usage we had seen over the last month. Once again, Edmonds looked like the more explosive back and led the team in rushing.

The Cardinals' James Conner had been dealing with an ankle injury but played through it in the loss to Detroit. Knowing he is now dealing with a new injury on a short week with a missed practice under his best, fantasy football managers might want to make other plans.

The Cardinals host the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday. The Colts feature one of the better run defenses in the league. They have allowed the 29th most fantasy points to running backs in half-PPR leagues this season.

Even if Conner suits up, he is no better than a risky flex play who might need to fall in the end zone to justify a start.
