Carlos Boozer is hoping to make a return to the NBA, as soon as this summer.

Now 34 years old, Boozer has been out of the NBA since the end of the 2014-15 season, when he last played for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Boozer is hoping there is a reserve spot open for him on some team, and he's been working out in Miami to stay in basketball shape and hopefully gain the attention of somebody in the league.

Boozer spoke with The Vertical regarding his comeback plans.

The previous season with the Lakers was a tough year. Kobe [Bryant] got hurt, Steve Nash went down and we had a young group still learning to win. I ended up taking the next year off, spent time with my kids and family and right now my body feels great. I feel terrific. I have been working out hard all year, and I miss the game. I want to play again.

Boozer has been working out almost everyday, and he believes his body has benefited from time off away from the grind of the long NBA season.

He is looking to land some type of mentor role for younger players, even if it’s for a potential contender that needs another big man on the roster who'll get few minutes.

I’ve been in the league for 13 years, and played in All-Star Games and been part of a gold-medal team in the Olympics [in 2008], and I think that I can be a help in a mentoring role. I think I can help some younger guys.

I’ve played against Karl Malone and Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan and picked up a lot of things that can be helpful to young guys. I really like the opportunity of having a role on a team where I can give back on the knowledge that I’ve gained through the years.

I’m curious to see where a lot of these free agents land in the next couple of weeks and see where I can fit in on a team.

Considering  how many free agents are looking to get paid this summer, Boozer may or may not realize his comeback, but he can always fall back on overseas opportunities available to him.
