Netflix Geeked Week showed off the next season of the Castlevania animated series: Castlevania Nocturne, now featuring a new Belmont.
No, there's not going to be a Castlevania Season 5 for the animated series. But Netflix Geeked Week didn't end without having anything about the Castlevania franchise. Instead, we're getting a new series called Castlevania Nocturne – featuring Richter Belmont, a descendant of Trevor and Sypha from the first series that Netflix erroneously labeled initially as their son.
The climactic ending of Season 4 sent fans reeling as the grand battle that occurred settled the score once and for all. But Castlevania fans know that there is more to the franchise than just a single vampire hunter. The game's story spans multiple centuries featuring different protagonists from the same family, almost all hunting the same vampire – Count Dracula. This time around, we'll be following the exploits of Richter Belmont – considered to be one of the most powerful vampire hunters to ever wield the Vampire Hunter whip.
Richter is one of the most popular Castlevania protagonists of all time, even making it alongside Simon Belmont as guest characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He featured in several Castlevania games in the past, but most notably in Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, half of the iconic Tetralogy that ended with Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow. The Netflix show is expected to follow the plot and setting of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, two games set in the late 18th century with the French Revolution as its backdrop. Returning characters from the original Netflix show include Count Dracula and his son Alucard, while characters expected to join the series from the games include Maria Renard, a distant relative of the Belmont clan.
Castlevania Nocturne has just been announced and currently doesn't have a set release date. Regularly check out our Netflix stories to remain updated with the latest and newest shows that get added to Netflix.
