It was a near perfect start for the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals vs. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
So much in fact that LeBron faced a first in his career after the Celtics took a 36-18 lead in the first quarter.
It just kept on going in the second quarter with the Celtics now leading 61-35 at halftime.
The 3-point line has been the biggest difference so far with the Cavs going 0-for-12 from deep while the Celtics have hit a solid 5-of-12 from downtown.
It's been the total team effort needed from the Celtics to dominate the Cavs so far. Boston is down its two All-Stars in Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward for the series but it hasn't mattered so far. Constant doubles sent LeBron's way has kept him quiet while the Cavs teammates have yet to step up and do much damage.
It will be interesting to see if the Celtics can keep up this dominance in Game 1 and the rest of this series. LeBron has in these playoffs already suffered blows early in a series only to come back and win — the Pacers beat the Cavs in Game 1 before LeBron led Cleveland back to take the series in seven games.
An even greater performance from LeBron and company will be needed vs. Boston who has homecourt and looks poised to give the Cavs their best shot.
