The Boston Celtics will graciously grant Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas’ request to postpone his video tribute for the next meeting in Boston between the two teams on Feb. 11 in order for his family to be in attendance. This despite Paul Pierce’s jersey retirement ceremony set to be held on the same night.

But in an interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich (as reported by CBS Boston), Celtics president Danny Ainge assures that the 90-second video tribute for Thomas won’t take away from Pierce’s big night.

“It won’t interfere with Paul. Paul understands. … “It’ll be a great moment. Isaiah deserves it,” Ainge said.

Thomas echoed Ainge’s sentiment, saying his little video package won’t make the entire night, which deservedly belongs to Pierce.

While some Celtics fans may disagree, the fact that Thomas will be remembered for a few minutes during the night of Pierce’s jersey retirement ceremony shouldn’t be such a big deal.

Despite all the noise he's made after leaving the team, Thomas is still deserving of his tribute, and Ainge did the right thing by granting Thomas' request.

Unless there are people who will choose to think differently, Thomas' video should ultimately be a mere footnote on what will be a night devoted to one of the Celtics greats.
