Why The Celtics Could Cover The Spread

The Celtics are once again the best team in the NBA, and they are scoring without issues. Ultimately, they continue to play at a high level. Tatum is their best player, averaging 27 points per game, which is good for 10th in the league. Also, Tatum has 8.4 rebounds per game. Brown is averaging 22.4 points per game. Meanwhile, Porzingis is averaging 20.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. White is averaging 16 points and 6.7 assists per game.

The Celtics are currently eighth in field-goal shooting percentage, including ninth from the triples. Also, they are solid at the line, ranking eighth in free-throw shooting percentage. The Celtics are the number-one rebounding team in the league. Furthermore, they are 10th in turnovers, showcasing their ability to handle the ball. The Celtics are also second in blocked shots.

The Celtics also have a great bench. Significantly, they average 26.7 points per game. Look for the bench to be more involved than it was in Saturday's game. They will be a key component of any victory.

The Celtics will cover the spread if Tatum and Brown can once again dominate on the court and make their shots from everywhere. Then, the defense must lock down Haliburton again.

Why The Pacers Could Cover The Spread

Speaking of Haliburton, he has not exactly risen to the challenge against the Celtics. So far, he is averaging 20.2 points and eight assists per game in 10 contests against the Celtics. His poor shooting the other night was the result of a Celtics team game planning perfectly for him.

Haliburton will need to rise to the challenge. So far, he is averaging 24.4 points and 12.8 assists per game, the latter of which is top in the NBA. Hield needs to do more to help the Pacers. This season, he is averaging 12.4 points per game. Turner can do everything, and the Pacers hope he will be able to. Right now, he is averaging 16.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Mathurin is averaging 14 points per game.

The Pacers are still the best shooting team in the NBA despite their off night. Additionally, they are fifth in 3-point shooting percentage. The Pacers also rank ninth in free-throw shooting percentage. However, they continue to struggle on the boards, and that was a huge issue against the top rebounding team in the association. But the Pacers control the ball modestly, ranking 12th in turnovers. Also, they remain stout on the defensive end, coming in at third in blocked shots.

The Pacers will cover the spread if they can do better from the field and on the boards. Then, they need to force the Celtics to go away from Tatum and Brown.

Final Celtics-Pacers Prediction & Pick

The Pacers had an awful night. However, they are a good enough team to adjust. Expect them to cover the spread in this one as they make the important adjustments to keep this close.

Final Celtics-Pacers Prediction & Pick: Indiana Pacers: +3.5 (-108)
