The Kansas City Chiefs made another notable move after announcing their decision to part ways with linebacker Derrick Johnson's. However, the 35-year-old has no intention of hanging his cleats up.

The Chiefs made it clear they have chosen to go in a much more youthful direction. Meanwhile, Johnson is looking to play for at least two more seasons with a serious contender, according to Terez A. Paylor of KansasCity.com:

“I at least want to play a couple more years,” he said. “I at least want get to 15 years in the league. Right now, I’m just chasing a ring, man. I am.

“When I hit the free-agency market, my decision will be based on who can be a contender and who has a need for me to play. I don’t want to just go on a team; I want to be a part of a team to help them win a championship.”

Johnson is a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection. He also leaves the Chiefs as their franchise's all-time leading tackler. However, at this point in his career, it is obvious that Johnson would like to go out with a Super Bowl win. The Chiefs have been on the cusp of championship contention for a long time, but they haven't succeeded in getting it done.

That said, Johnson will be one of the biggest names on the market in free agency this offseason. Despite his age and recent issues with his Achilles, he has still proven to be a big-time playmaker on the field.
