The Kansas City Chiefs acquired Frank Clark via trade before the 2019 NFL season, and plenty of people questioned the move. But with the Chiefs advancing to the Super Bowl, Clark is ready to continue proving his worth.

“You’ve seen all the bad things they were saying about us. You’ve seen all the bad things they were saying about Frank Clark,” Clark said, via the Associated Press. “One thing they didn’t know is how long the season was.”

When Kansas City traded for Clark, they surrendered a first and second-round pick to acquire him from the Seattle Seahawks. Immediately after landing him, the Chiefs signed Clark to a five-year deal that was worth $105 million. With his new deal, Clark became the highest-paid defensive end in the NFL.

Many people shared the opinion that Clark was overpaid and was going to be a mistake for the Chiefs. During the regular season, the Pro Bowl defensive end totaled eight sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hits, and three forced fumbles.

As for the playoffs, Clark has taken his game to an entirely different level. In Kansas City's two playoff games, the former second-round pick has combined for four sacks, four tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits.

Before last week's game against the Tennessee Titans, Clark exclaimed that Derrick Henry wasn't hard to tackle. The fifth-year defensive end and Kansas City's defense backed up Clark's trash talk by containing Henry to just 69 rushing yards.

Despite the mediocre regular season, Clark is beginning to show why the contract he received was warranted with how he's performed in the playoffs. The Chiefs are hoping he can continue his dominance in the Super Bowl versus the San Francisco 49ers.
