The NFL plans on releasing the schedules for all 32 teams on Thursday night and there are surely going to be leaks before the official scheduled is unveiled. With that being said, the Kansas City Chiefs will reportedly face the Houston Texans to begin the season on Thursday Night Football, per Danny Parkins of 670 The Score.

Of course, until it's made official, everyone should be taking leaks of the schedule with a grain of salt. Regardless of the legitimacy of the leak, it would make sense for the Chiefs and the Texans to square off to begin the 2020 NFL season.

Last season, Kansas City and Houston played against one another in the AFC Divisional Round. Even though the Texans got out to a 24-0 lead, the Chiefs — led by Patrick Mahomes — came back and won the thrilling game 51-31. Besides their playoff meeting, both teams faced each other in the regular season, with the Texans prevailing by the score of 31-24.

When the NFL decides on the season-opener, they tend to pit two teams against each other that played the year prior. At the same time, they want to entice fans with a game between two intriguing teams. Without a doubt, having Mahomes versus Deshaun Watson should be enough to get fans to tune in.

In addition, the Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champions, making them the team with a target on their back in 2020. As for the Texans, they'll look a bit different after trading DeAndre Hopkins this offseason. If this leak happens to be true, it's apparent that the NFL believes that Houston can still compete with Kansas City despite their questionable offseason.
