New Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon called Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes' new contract extension “worth every dime” on Tuesday while speaking to fellow former Los Angeles Chargers rusher LaDainian Tomlinson.
Gordon, 27, signed as a free agent with the Broncos this past offseason, inking a two-year, $16 million contract. Those figures pale in comparison to Patrick Mahomes' extension—the richest in sports history at $503 million over 10 years.
Gordon elucidated his thoughts on Patrick Mahomes' new deal via Kevin Patra in NFL.com:
Gordon knows that Patrick Mahomes, 24, won Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs earlier this year, just in the second season as the full-time starter for the organization.
A Texas Tech product, Patrick Mahomes was selected by Kansas City with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
