It takes more than just good skills for a quarterback to make the Super Bowl. That's what Patrick Mahomes realized as he and Jimmy Garoppolo lead the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl LIV on Sunday.

The leading pass-caller of the AFC Champions talked to ESPN's Adam Teicher about the coming Super Bowl. While he's excited to fight for the Vince Lombardi trophy, he took a step back and appreciated how lucky they are to be playing for teams with a lot of outstanding talent. He himself recognized that things could have easily gone south if they weren't in the perfect situation.

“Being in the right organization with the right coaches, the right teammates … being in this league, it's not about one person,” said Mahomes, who will lead the Kansas City Chiefs against Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers. “It's not about the quarterback. It's about your team and how you go out there and play as a team and play together.

“So I think with both me and him, we've been put in a lot of great situations and we've tried to maximize that every day we get those opportunities. … I think Jimmy would say the same thing.”

The Chiefs superstar has thrilled many a football fan with his ability to seemingly throw any kind of pass at any kind of situation. Meanwhile, Garoppolo helped an outstanding 49ers defense reach the Super Bowl by orchestrating the offense effectively.

It's going to be a fiery duel between the two hungry quarterbacks, and Miami will be in for a treat of a Super Bowl once the pigskin is launched in the air with the Chiefs going head-to-head against the 49ers.
