With Kliff Kingsbury being let go by the Texas Tech Red Raiders, there has been a lot of questions about where his future will take him. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who played under Kingsbury in college, thinks the NFL would be a perfect place for him.

“I haven’t talked to him at about where he is thinking about going or where he is thinking about ending up,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes told reporters on Wednesday via Pro Football Talk. “I know if he did come to the NFL, he has the work ethic and he has the mind and he has the invovativeness — I guess you would say, if that’s even a word — to be in this league. Whatever he does, I know he will have success doing it.”

The NFL is turning more to college concepts on offense, so it would make sense that one of the brightest offensive minds would get a shot to coach in the NFL.

Kingsbury's teams failed at Texas Tech because of the defense, and the offense was never an issue. Mahomes said he is still really close with Kingsbury and he is just excited for whatever step he decides to take next.

“I am close with Coach Kingsbury,” Mahomes said. “He really helped my game and helped me as a person a lot. He is a genuine, good person and at the same time a very smart football coach. I know he will land back on his feet somewhere else and I am excited for the future with him.”

If Kingsbury doesn't make the jump to the NFL, there will be plenty of jobs waiting for him in the college ranks.
