You wouldn't think Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes would need to improve all that much after a spectacular 2018 campaign, but like any other professional athlete, Mahomes is always looking for ways to get better.

This summer, Mahomes is planning on improving his footwork:

“My footwork,” Mahomes said when asked what he will work on over the next couple of months, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN. “I make a lot of off-scheduled plays, scrambling around and throwing the ball, but there's so many little plays that I'll miss, 'cause my feet aren't in the right position and I rely too much on my arm.”

Mahomes is coming off of a season in which he threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 113.8 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas Tech, was originally selected by the Chiefs with the 10th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He spent his first season in the NFL backing up Alex Smith, starting just one game and throwing for 284 yards and a pick while completing 22 of his 35 passes in that contest.

Kansas City then traded Smith that ensuing offseason in order to clear the way for Mahomes, a decision that obviously worked out, as Mahomes is now already one of the best signal-callers in football.

The Chiefs went on to win 12 games and capture the AFC West division title this past season. They then made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game, where they ultimately fell to the New England Patriots.
