The Kansas City Chiefs made a call that may have been a pleasant surprise to many as they decided to bring back former running back Charcandrick West.

West spent his entire five-year career with the Chiefs but did spend some time with the New York Jets after the Chiefs let him go back in August. The Jets then released West just a couple of days after signing with the team. West spent most of the season as a pass catcher in the 2017 season as Hunt emerged as the team's clear-cut workhorse. Now that West is back with the Chiefs, he will likely be sticking around for a while this time around.

West will most likely be Spencer Ware's backup with the recent release of former running back Kareem Hunt. There is a lot of offense to be made up as Hunt was last season's rushing leader as a rookie. A recent video of Hunt in an altercation with a female led the Chiefs to release their prized running back right before the team's Week 13 matchup with the division rival Oakland Raiders.

Spencer Ware filled in admirably as the team's workhorse, but gunslinging quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 23 passes on 38 attempts for 295 yards and added four touchdown passes. Luckily for the Chiefs, they have been a pass-first offense all season and between Ware and West, the two running backs know the offense and can fill in comfortably going forward. The Chiefs are poised to build upon a successful season as they now sit atop the AFC West at 10-2.
