The LA Clippers will be without a major piece of the puzzle on Sunday evening against the always dangerous San Antonio Spurs. According to Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints, Clippers forward Danilo Gallinari has been ruled out for the weekend affair due to back spasms.

It is also worth noting that the 24-21 Clippers will also be without veteran guard Lou Williams in San Antonio, as the seasoned sharpshooter is being plagued by a new hamstring injury.

Danilo Gallinari was already listed as doubtful before the game while Williams was previously tagged as questionable.

The 30-year-old Gallinari is currently in the midst of his second season with the Clippers. Prior to arriving in Los Angeles ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, the Italian forward spent time with both the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets. He was originally selected by the Knicks in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft.

Over the course of 44 regular season appearances this campaign, all of which have been starts, Gallinari has averaged an even 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Playing 31.3 minutes per game as well, he is presently sporting numbers well over his career averages in each of those three major categories.

Gallinari has NBA career averages of 15.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

As it stands today, the Clippers sit in eighth place in the ever-competitive Western Conference, just ahead of crosstown rival Los Angeles Lakers. The Clips have lost five consecutive games.
