Just last weekend, Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers walked his daughter, Callie, down the aisle as she married the man of her dreams in Dallas Mavericks guard Seth Curry. Rivers was apparently still feeling the wedding high following the lavish Malibu ceremony, but could not help but joke about having to shell out a significant sum of money to fund this memorable occasion:

“It was very expensive,” he said, via Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times. “I have to be the first coach to ever throw a wedding for an NBA player. Like, I don’t get that. I don’t think I should have paid. I really don’t. But it was fantastic.”

We're not exactly sure if Doc actually paid for the entire wedding, or if he even dipped into his pocket at all. Curry himself is pretty well off, especially considering the fact that he has just put pen to paper on a four-year, $32 million deal with the Mavs this offseason. Whatever the case may be, this is likely just Rivers playfully joking around with his new son-in-law.

For his part, it has been a pretty festive summer for the 57-year-old coach. Aside from celebrating his daughter's new union, Rivers and the Clippers were able to assemble a pretty outstanding roster for the 2019-20 season. By acquiring both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George this offseason, Rivers and company have leapfrogged to the very top of the food chain, as they enter the new campaign as one of the heavy favorites to go all the way and win the title.
