The Los Angeles Clippers made history after their embarrassing loss to the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of their second-round matchup. Unfortunately for them, it's not exactly the type of history any team would want to be part of.

LA has now extended their losing streak when faced with an opportunity to advance to the Conference Finals to 0-8.

The Clippers have never been to the Western Conference Finals, and the above statistic explains why.

2020 was supposed to be their year following a historic offseason that saw them land two superstars. Not only did they bring in reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard to the fold, but LA also recruited six-time All-Star Paul George to form one of the most fearsome duos in the NBA.

The “Battle of LA” narrative was on full swing from the get-go, with the Los Angeles Lakers also active in the offseason after pairing superstar big man Anthony Davis with LeBron James in Hollywood. The two cross-town rivals were supposed to face off in an epic Western Conference Finals, but the last thing the Clippers expected was the Nuggets.

That is particularly the case after Doc Rivers' squad had already gone 3-1 up in the series.

It will be interesting to see how the Clippers move forward following this heart-wrenching loss in the second-round. Both Leonard and George have two years remaining on their current deals, but notably, both of them have a player option for the 2021-22 campaign.

If the Clippers opt to run with the duo for the foreseeable future, then they will need to offer them an extension sooner rather than later. Otherwise, they could see both men walk in the summer of 2021.
