After the L.A. Clippers' season came to a bitter end, mired in 10th place in the West after one of his most-promising assets in Patrick Beverley only mustered 11 games in the uniform after being traded by the Houston Rockets.

Now recovering from a season-ending knee surgery, Beverley is walking and on his way to a full recovery, presented with the possibility of Kawhi Leonard joining his team in this upcoming season.

“I can,” Beverley told TMZ Sports when asked if he could imagine a scenario where the two-time Defensive Player of the Year joins the Clippers over the offseason. “We're talking about Kawhi Leonard. He is the best defender besides myself. He is the best defensive guard. He's a stud.”

“We'd hit the lottery with that, but those decisions aren't up to me.”

The Clippers have a couple of first-round draft picks on their sleeves, which they could use to entice the San Antonio Spurs for a potential trade.

A 1-3-5 combo of Beverley, Leonard, and DeAndre Jordan would bring night terrors to most NBA offenses with their ability to lock down a player at the defensive end.

Leonard has been rumored to want to wind up in his hometown of L.A. and while the Los Angeles Lakers seem like the no-brainer option, the Clippers could easily make a run for his services with the right set of assets.

A lineup with Leonard would certainly put the Clippers back in the playoff conversation, but that would all depend on the pulse of the Spurs' front office and how things are handled after the postseason.
