Free agency is just a few weeks away, and while a lot of teams are focused on wooing the top-tier players who will hit the market come July 1st, it is also worth noting that there are also valuable role players who will be available this summer. One of them is Patrick Beverley.

Beverley played for the Los Angeles Clippers last season, and he helped them secure the eighth seed in the Western Conference. They even won two games against the heavily favored Golden State Warriors in the first round. Now that the defensive-minded guard is a free agent, he feels very excited.

In an interview with The Chicago Tribune's KC Johnson, Beverley said he's happy about the possibilities for him this summer. He didn't give any indication as to what team he'll sign with, but he's very confident that he can help any franchise get to the playoffs.

“I feel like any team I’m on, I can help take that team to the playoffs. Just me, my attitude, what I bring defensively, my grit and grind, my ability to playmake, rebound and make shots, the leader I am, I’m excited to see what door opens. If it’s a young team or older veteran team, I’m ready.

Beverley averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists last season. He also shot close to 40 percent from beyond the arc. But what most teams like about him is his tenacity on the defensive end. In short, he's a hard worker so it won't be surprising if his camp gets a lot of calls this summer.

“This is my first time being an unrestricted free agent, so of course I’m super excited to go through the process, to be wooed, to see the hard work and everything I’ve been through to this point be rewarded. I’m just real happy and confident and excited with how this past season went. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

The Clippers and the Chicago Bulls are two of the teams that will likely be interested in Beverley. But expect more teams will start to pop up within the next two weeks.
