Patrick Beverley has been the heart and soul of the Los Angeles Clippers for the last four years. He's now headed to the Memphis Grizzlies in a trade that brings a familiar face back to LAC.
The Grizzlies, with an already packed roster, are open-minded on the futures of all three players in Memphis — and will likely consider trades with some of those arriving in this deal. Memphis gets salary cap flexibility in the summer of 2022 with trade.

Beverley was the last remaining vestige of the scrappy Clippers squad after the Chris Paul era and the longest-tenured player left on the roster. But based on his instant reaction to the trade, it looks like Pat Bev is looking forward to the future right away.
Grit and Grind. Let’s GO🏀🏀

The Grizzlies seem like the spiritual match for a player like Patrick Beverley. He has made his mark on the league during stints with the Clippers and the Houston Rockets as a hard-nosed defender who plays with, well, a grit and grind mentality.
Beverley has been a consistently solid contributor for the Clippers. In his four seasons in LA, he averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game and has shot just shy of 40 percent from 3-point land. He'll still have a lot of juice left in him as he enters his age-33 season.
Ja Morant is the Grizzlies' franchise player and is already playing like a multiple-time All-Star after just two seasons in the NBA. Assuming the players stay put, Morant gets to play alongside two point guards from the Clippers who bring vastly differing skill sets in Beverley and Rajon Rondo.
