When Reggie Jackson crossed up Russell Westbrook in a LA Clippers in over the Los Angeles Lakers, it seemed like the latest chapter in a long history of animosity between the two point guards and former teammates. Ever since Jackson was Westbrook's backup on the Oklahoma City Thunder, the two have seemingly never gotten along.

Although the Clippers and Lakers point guards seem to be enemies, Jackson explained to Sam Amick of The Athletic that he and Westbrook are cool and that there is no beef between them.

There’s no problem (laughs) — at all. I always wish him well, always tell him to tell his family what’s up for me. He was definitely — even though we were around the same age — he was definitely my vet, showing me the ropes, taking me around, making me comfortable. I think a lot of my aggression and my fire, and the way I play is because we’re all a product of our environment. So I also felt like I was raised under him as well. I’m always appreciative of Russ and thankful for all he’s done for me during my career.

Jackson's take on Westbrook is another example of how, despite his (somewhat deserved) negative perception as a player, Westbrook is loved among his former teammates. His confrontational approach to taunts may make him come off as a hot-head but the guys who spend a lot of time with him all adore him.

The competitiveness that both Westbrook and Jackson exude may have led to some harsh moments. But off the court, they have nothing but respect for each other.
