Injuries end up playing a role in how every NBA season plays out. Unfortunately for the Los Angeles Clippers, they have had to deal with a ton of ailments through the years, almost all of them taking away this organization's ability to contend for a title.

Making the Western Conference Finals for the first time in team history in 2021, the Clippers have proven that they have what it takes to stand at the top of the NBA world. Then again, everything for this organization hinders on the availability of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Los Angeles' two All-Stars have both missed chunks of time ever since they joined the organization in 2019. Leonard has played in about 52 percent of the Clippers' games since the start of the 2019-20 season and George has played in just 61 percent of the team's total games in the same span.

If they can remain healthy, the Clippers know they have what it takes to possibly win a championship and head coach Tyronn Lue knows this as well. Recently appearing on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Lue spoke with Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine about where things stand with his two stars ahead of training camp and what their availability is looking like.

“We expect him to be ready by training camp,” Lue said of Leonard. “He will be 100 percent by the time training camp hits and we just gotta be ready for when training camp hits with our medical staff, we just make sure we are doing the right things as far as practices and games and making sure the minutes are right. The same thing with PG (Paul George). When those two guys play, we're an amazing team.”

Last season, Leonard played in 52 games and George played in 56 games. Neither player has eclipsed 57 regular season game appearances in a season with Los Angeles.

It is obvious that the Clippers are a better team with their All-Stars healthy, as they are two of the better two-way players in the entire league. The 2023-24 season is going to be a big one for Los Angeles given the contract situations they will need to sort through next offseason, which is why they want to finally live up to the narratives placed upon them and be true championship threats in the Western Conference.

“We know we have a lot of talent, we know we have a chance to win,” Lue continued. “Lawrence Frank, Mark Hughes, Trent Redden and Mr. Ballmer put together a great team, a great roster. We just haven't been able to see that finished product at the end of the season. That's what's frustrating, but don't think these guys don't want to play or they don't want to compete.

“Hopefully we can just keep praying and hopefully we can just see our team at the end of the season with Kawhi and PG on the floor.”

As much as Lue may be praying for his stars to remain healthy, so too is every single Clippers fan around the world. With Leonard and George both expected to be ready to go for the start to training camp, Los Angeles is preparing to enter the 2023-24 season at full strength for the first time in what seems like forever.
