CM Punk has decided to officially end the MMA journey he began back in 2014. He had announced seven years ago that he was leaving wrestling and joining the UFC. Now that he's with AEW, things have once again changed.

MMAFighting received official word from the UFC regarding his decision to hang up the gloves. He retires with a record of 0-1(1)

He didn't make his debut until 2016, against Mickey Gall at UFC 203. The Pro Wrestler took his time making his debut and trained for a long time before he felt ready.

The debut against Gall did not go well as the Chicago native lost via rear-naked-choke submission in the first round. He then gave a big motivational speech in true CM Punk fashion and won over the Ohio crowd.

CM Punk wouldn't compete again for almost two years. He eventually came back against Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in 2018, losing a decision before the fight turned in a No-Contest.

CM Punk and the UFC would receive a lot of criticism for the latter's MMA career. Many felt he would have been better served developing on the regional scene before making the move to the big leagues.

The performance against Jackson was the one that really garnered a lot of criticism. Many felt Jackson didn't take the fight seriously and it showed how far away Punk was from the big leagues in terms of skill.

Now CM Punk is back in Pro-Wrestling and he has signed for the promotion AEW. The announcement drew a lot of excitement for wrestling fans when the announcement was made at the last AEW event.
