The Alabama Crimson Tide are set to face the Kentucky Wildcats. Check out our college basketball odds series, which includes our Alabama Kentucky prediction, odds, and pick.

The two numbers everyone will think about heading into this game: 3 and 30.

Alabama hit just 3 of 30 3-point shots in a home-court loss to Kentucky earlier in February. The Crimson Tide could not have shot any worse than they did against the Wildcats. Kentucky's defense was certainly very good, but not that good. Alabama has struggled to hit 3-pointers for much of the season; it's a big part of Nate Oats' offense and overall philosophy. Last season's team hit so many more big perimeter jumpers, and accordingly won the SEC championship plus the SEC Tournament, gaining a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. This season's team has been so much more erratic, losing to Georgia and Missouri to significantly damage a resume which also includes wins over a full-strength Houston team (before it lost Marcus Sasser), Gonzaga in Seattle, and Baylor. Alabama was tied with roughly one minute left in regulation against No. 2 Auburn, which will almost certainly get a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

College basketball odds experts and anyone thinking about an Alabama Kentucky prediction knows that Good Bama can play with anyone, and Bad Bama can lose to anyone. That dual reality hasn't changed over the course of this wild and crazy college basketball season. The Alabama Kentucky odds reflect this, too.

Kentucky games can be sized up based on one central question: Is TyTy Washington fully healthy, or at least healthy enough, to be his best self? Washington was hurt in losses to LSU and Auburn in January. He was not fully healthy but tried to play through pain earlier this week against Tennessee. He wasn't able to play well. Kentucky lost decisively. Coach John Calipari said he made a mistake by allowing Washington to play.

What kind of play can we expect from TyTy Washington? It's very hard to know. This is why an Alabama Kentucky pick is not easy to make under the current circumstances.

Why Alabama Could Cover the Spread

Kentucky is a No. 1 seed when TyTy Washington is healthy, but a No. 10 seed when he isn't. Washington is not fully healthy, and Alabama will certainly not make only 3 of 30 3-pointers again. It will shoot better.

Why Kentucky Could Cover the Spread

The Wildcats are coming off a thorough beatdown suffered against Tennessee. They're at home. Even if TyTy Washington isn't at his best, Alabama is mercurial and unpredictable. Kentucky and Oscar Tshiebwe could still outmuscle the Crimson Tide and dare them to hit the big shots they haven't made for a good portion of the season.

Final Alabama-Kentucky Prediction & Pick

Kentucky might win straight up, but the questions about TyTy Washington's health, plus the reality of Alabama shooting unusually poorly (even by its own low and volatile standards) in the previous meeting between these two points, point to a game in which Alabama will be in it to the very end and should cover.

Final Alabama-Kentucky Pick: Alabama +6.5
