The LSU Tigers are set to face the Kentucky Wildcats. Check out our college basketball odds series, which includes our LSU Kentucky prediction, odds, and pick.

LSU beat Kentucky earlier in the season, but so much has changed since that win by the Tigers, who were one of the last six remaining unbeaten teams in college basketball this season. LSU was the healthier team then. Kentucky had injuries to TyTy Washington and Sahvir Wheeler, two players who were missing from the Wildcats' lineup in other games this season, including this past Saturday's game against Alabama. They are expected to play in this game, which is why the LSU Kentucky odds are what they are.

College basketball odds analysts are aware that LSU's team-wide health got worse after the win over Kentucky. In subsequent weeks, Xavier Pinson, Darius Days, and Tari Eason all were hurt to varying degrees. Pinson and Days were out for longer periods of time. The Tigers need those guys on the floor. Their offense noticeably suffered without them. LSU has had a very rough ride in SEC play with its shorthanded roster. The Tigers have lost eight games on the season, seven in SEC play. This is part of the calculus when making an LSU Kentucky prediction.

Kentucky has gotten better since the LSU loss. It has become apparent that when TyTy Washington plays, this team is really good. Washington was hurt in a loss to Auburn. Had he not been hurt, Kentucky might have beaten Auburn and become the leader in the SEC standings. Even without a win over Auburn, Kentucky is still in position to play for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats are a No. 2 seed right now in most bracket projections. Their blowout win at Kansas and a pair of wins over Alabama have clearly boosted their seeding position. With LSU coming to Rupp Arena, the Wildcats are going to be out for revenge. This is part of the larger picture surrounding any LSU Kentucky pick you might make.

Why LSU Could Cover the Spread

The Tigers have gone through a lot of injuries and, while not thriving, have at least managed to survive to the extent that they will still make the NCAA Tournament. The bad performances produced by this team are less a reflection of natural flaws, more a product of the injuries which have savaged them. This is a team whose better performances are just around the corner. A solid performance here should cover the eight-point spread.

Why Kentucky Could Cover the Spread

The Wildcats were able to beat Alabama at home without TyTy Washington. With him and Wheeler on the floor, Kentucky should be able to play far better and more cohesively than it did in the first game against LSU in Baton Rouge. Playing at home, the confident Wildcats can easily cover the spread.

Final LSU-Kentucky Prediction & Pick

Kentucky is in a far better position relative to LSU than it was in the first meeting between these teams. John Calipari will seek payback here, and he has a team which is hitting its stride.
