University of Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz made his first college football start on Friday against Illinois and finished the first half 14-of-14 for 190 yards and four touchdowns. The performance was so epic that Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes couldn't help but react.

To have a perfect first half in a football game is one thing. However, to accomplish that goal in your first-ever start speaks volumes. Although Illinois, historically, has never been that good on defense, it's still really impressive what Graham Mertz did in the first half–as proven by Patrick Mahomes' reaction.

It looks like Wisconsin has the next star of the college football season in Mertz. Mahomes, who dominated in college as well, will certainly be keeping an eye on the rising star as the 2020 college football season moves along.

Mahomes signed the richest deal in sports history with the Chiefs. However, he's as humble as they come and is always taking to social media to shout-out players from different sports that he enjoys watching.

Once Mertz finds out that Mahomes mentioned him in a tweet, he'll probably be on cloud nine and tell his parents about it.

Big 10 football is finally back after COVID-19 forced the NCAA committee to delay it and Mertz started the season with a bang. Mahomes, who threw 93 touchdown passes at Texas Tech in three seasons, will face the Denver Broncos in Week 7 of the NFL season. KC is 5-1 on the season and coming off a statement win in Week 6 over the Buffalo Bills after losing to the Las Vegas Raiders at home in Week 5.
