Why Kentucky Could Cover The Spread
Mark Stoops has Kentucky’s defense (and program) in a great place. With wins over both Florida and LSU already this season, the offense has shown it can play a little bit too. Both of these wins came at home, however. While Kentucky definitely faces an uphill battle in terms of winning the game on Saturday, covering a three-touchdown spread is a less daunting task for the Wildcats. Their defense has kept them in every game so far this season, and while the Dawgs will be their toughest test yet to be sure, Kentucky has a chance to have a good defensive performance and give themselves a swinger’s chance in between the hedges on Saturday. Kentucky is 5-1 vs. the spread this season.
Why Georgia Could Cover The Spread
Georgia has covered large spreads all season. They have been a double-digit favorite in all six of their games, and they are 5-1 vs. the spread. Whether Stetson Bennett or J.T. Daniels plays quarterback hasn’t seemed to matter all that much, as their defense and other skill position players on offense have been able to dominate the men lineup across from them on an impressively consistent basis. Georgia’s defense features several future NFL players, and their offense shouldn’t have any trouble moving it on Kentucky due to their massive offensive line. This is a big line, but don’t autopick Kentucky just based off that. Georgia has proven all year that they can cover a large number, so it won’t be a big surprise if they do it again come Saturday evening.
Final Kentucky-Georgia Prediction & Pick
It’s too hard to fade Georgia right now. Kentucky has been good, but they haven’t faced a test anything like what they’re going to see this Saturday. Take Georgia to cover another large spread behind their dominant defense and efficiency on the offensive side of the ball. If the Bulldogs are able to take care of the ball on Saturday, they should be able to cover the spread even at the high number.
FINAL KENTUCKY-GEORGIA PREDICTION & PICK: Georgia -22.5 (-107)
