Georgia has had an impressive 2-0 start to the season. The Bulldogs won a close defensive battle against Clemson in Week 1 and then crushed UAB last week. The second-ranked team has one of the top defenses in all of college football this season.

As for the Gamecocks, they squeaked out a win on a game-winning field goal as time expired against ECU last time out. South Carolina rallied after being down 14 in the first half to get the victory on the road.

Let's take a look at the lines for this SEC showdown.

Why South Carolina Could Cover The Spread

South Carolina had no trouble in their home opener against Eastern Illinois, jumping out to a 29-0 lead at the half and cruising to a 46-0 blowout victory. The Gamecocks had more trouble the following week against ECU, but they showed resiliency in their comeback victory.

South Carolina finished the game with 320 total yards, although they had three turnovers and went 2-12 on third-down conversions. Against a formidable Georgia defense, the Gamecocks will have to convert on plays and take care of the football. The defense for South Carolina played well, forcing two turnovers and allowing only three points in the second half of last game against ECU.

If Georgia quarterback JT Daniels is not good to go, the Gamecocks could be in business and force the backup to make some errant throws. Quarterback Luke Doty, who many speculated would play this past weekend, should finally be healthy enough to suit up for the Gamecocks and should gain an advantage with his ability to run.

Why Georgia Could Cover The Spread

The Bulldogs are off to a terrific start, as the defense has yet to allow a touchdown this season. Georgia has given up 10 points over their first two games combined, and seven of those came on a fourth-quarter interception return by UAB with the game already way out of reach. Georgia does have a question mark at quarterback, with starter JT Daniels missing last week with injury.

However, Daniels is expected to be back this weekend to face the Gamecocks. Offensively, the second-ranked Bulldogs are averaging 33.0 points and 397.5 total yards per game. Zamir White and Daijun Edwards lead the backfield for the Bulldogs after losing D’Andre Swift to the NFL. Brock Bowers and Jermaine Burton combined for 198 receiving yards and three touchdowns last game.

Overall, the Bulldogs look very balanced on both sides of the ball this year. Additionally, Georgia is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall, while South Carolina is 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight overall.

Final South Carolina-Georgia Prediction & Pick

With issues at quarterback and the solid play thus far by both defenses, this game should be a low-scoring affair. However, if Georgia gets out to an early lead as they did against UAB (35-0 at halftime), it will be tough for South Carolina to get back in the game. Georgia is the much better football team and Daniels is expected to suit up for this contest. The spread is a massive one, but the Bulldogs have the firepower to break this game open early. Bet on Georgia to cover the big spread as they should win by 35-plus points.

Final Prediction & Pick: Georgia -31 1/2 (-110)
