The TCU Horned Frogs will take on the Oklahoma Sooners in a battle of the Big 12 on Saturday. It's time to continue our college football odds series and make a TCU-Oklahoma prediction and pick.

In years past, this matchup has been seen as an easy Oklahoma victory. That is far from the case this season, as both teams have drastically changed this season. TCU has a 3-2 record this season, and they haven't been blown out by any opponent they've faced. Oklahoma came into the season with championship expectations, but the Sooners haven't looked like a playoff-worthy team this season, much less a championship contender. This game is going to be a lot closer than most expect, so let's get into an exciting pick.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the lines for Saturday's game.

Why TCU Could Cover The Spread

The Horned Frogs have been one of the best rushing teams in the nation so far. As a team, they average six yards per carry and 251 yards per game, both numbers good for sixth in the nation. A cursory glance at Oklahoma's rush defense says that the Sooners have been elite against the ground game, but that's not the case at all. Head coach Lincoln Riley's squad has only faced one team that's really capable of running the ball in the Texas Longhorns. UT was able to run the ball all over Oklahoma, with star running back Bijan Robinson dropping 137 rushing yards on 6.8 yards per carry. Running backs Kendre Miller and Zach Evans should carry this ground game to a good showing in this one.

To everyone's surprise, the Sooners have had a tumultuous week of practice. There's obviously a quarterback controversy after supposed star Spencer Rattler was benched in Oklahoma's game against Texas, and the Sooners made the decision to cancel media access to certain players this week. Rattler was seen walking off the field separate from his teammates after last week's big win, so it's fair to wonder how the locker room situation is playing out. Distractions like this one against a decent team isn't usually a recipe for success.

Why Oklahoma Could Cover The Spread

Despite all the noise around their quarterback situation, it's clear that the Sooners have two viable starters at the position. Caleb Williams led a huge comeback against Texas, and Rattler was listed as a preseason favorite for the Heisman Trophy for a reason. This offense will be capable at the very least, and that has often been enough to put up plenty of points on the Horned Frogs. TCU is allowing a whopping 34 points per game to their opponents, as well as allowing 502 yards per contest. The Sooners are facing one of the worst defenses in the nation, so expect an explosive offensive performance from Oklahoma.

While TCU's run game has been nearly unstoppable, the opposite can be said about their passing game. The Horned Frogs rank among the worst in the nation in plenty of passing categories, partially because of their dedication to the run game. If the Sooners hop out to an early lead, it will be very difficult for TCU to claw their way back into this one because of their dependency on the run game. Look for Oklahoma to put the pressure on early offensively.

Final TCU-Oklahoma Prediction & Pick

This game won't be a blowout in either direction. Oklahoma has looked incredibly shaky at times this season, and it's tough to trust them to cover two touchdowns on the road against a good TCU team. Take the Horned Frogs with confidence in this one.
