The Scarlet Knights of Rutgers just had one of the craziest plays you will ever see in college football, all for it to be brought back.

Deciding to go for it on 4th and 32 down by 16 with 2:04 left to go in the game, Rutgers tried to keep the play alive through laterals. After a quick slant pass into the middle of the field, they started lateraling it around, keeping the play alive while also flipping the ball all the way back to their own 20-yard line.

It would appear as though they were down at the 35, but another lateral as Shaheim Jones was falling before his knees touched the ground kept the play going, to the surprise of Indiana's defense. That allowed Rutgers to lateral it again to the sideline, which gave an open lane for the Scarlet Knights to score.

Unfortunately, the play was eventually called off due to the second lateral being deemed a forward pass, negating one of the craziest college football touchdowns anyone will see.

Both Rutgers and Indiana came into the game 1-0 after both teams won upsets in the first week of Big Ten action. The Big Ten initially shut down their college football season to the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic, but they chose to return in September.

Rutgers beat Michigan State on the road, while Indiana beat No. 8 Penn State at home. The Scarlet Knights will have their work cut out for them next week when they face No. 3 Ohio State at The Horseshoe. Indiana, on the other hand, will face Michigan at home.
