Things got off to a rocky start for Carson Wentz with the Indianapolis Colts. Wentz needed to undergo foot surgery during training camp, putting his Week 1 status in doubt. The quarterback was also recently on the COVID-19 list and came under fire for his silly outlook on the vaccine.
However, despite everything, it looks like Wentz will be suiting up for the Colts against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. Colts head coach Frank Reich told reporters Wednesday that Wentz was a full participant in practice, which means he should be good to go as long as there are no setbacks.
Wentz is getting his fresh start in Indianapolis after a disastrous ending to his once-promising stint with the Philadelphia Eagles. The second pick in the 2016 draft out of North Dakota State, the quarterback developed into an MVP candidate before an ACL injury nuked his 2017 season, which ended with Nick Foles leading the Eagles to a stunning Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots.
Wentz returned and had a solid 2018 season, only to get injured again toward the end of the regular season, paving the way for Foles to start again in the playoffs. Wentz then actually enjoyed an even better 2019 campaign, only to get hurt at the beginning of an ugly playoff loss to Seattle.
The 2020 season was then a total disaster, with Wentz throwing 15 interceptions, getting sacked a league-leading 50 times and suffering through the worst season of his career. He was replaced by Jalen Hurts, and the writing was on the wall for his time with Philadelphia.
Now with the Colts, Wentz will try to redeem himself in 2021 as their starting quarterback.
