Just a few weeks ago, the Indianapolis Colts looked well-positioned for not only a postseason berth, but also a potential run through the AFC playoff field. However, two straight losses ensued, including a horrific defeat at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars, knocking the Colts out of the postseason. There's plenty of blame to go around for the late-season collapse, though much of the criticism has landed at the feet of quarterback Carson Wentz, who certainly didn't do himself any favors with his play down the stretch. Speaking to reporters following the late-season collapse, Colts general manager Chris Ballard was asked about last offseason's trade to bring in Wentz and seemed to throw shade at the signal-caller, via Mike Wells of ESPN.

Yikes. It sure sounds like Chris Ballard and the Colts are having buyer's remorse when it comes to Carson Wentz. At the time, they felt like it was the right move to bring Wentz in, but now… not so much.

General manager speak will always be a thing, but the fact that Ballard was unwilling to even hint that Wentz would return next season speaks volumes about where the Colts at right now with their quarterback situation.

Just listen to what else Ballard had to say on Wentz. The GM complimented the quarterback for his ability to make elite-level throws but said that Wentz “has to make the layups.”

Chris Ballard and the Colts can't believe that they managed to miss the playoffs given where they were a few weeks ago. And, judging by his comments, it sounds like they place much of the blame on their quarterback.
