With the NFL's legal tampering period set to start mid-day on Monday, the Indianapolis Colts have a specific free-agent quarterback in their sights. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Colts are expected to pursue former Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers but will also look at other QB options on the market.

The sudden retirement of franchise quarterback Andrew Luck last August put the Colts in a bit of a rut when it came to the future of the team. Backup Jacoby Brissett performed decently well in 2019 with Luck gone but he is not seen as the long-term option for the team.

Last season, Brissett completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 2,942 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions while also adding 228 yards and four additional touchdowns on the ground. The former third-round pick led Indianapolis to a 7-8 record in 15 games.

As for Rivers, after 16 years with the Chargers, the team has decided to move on from the 38-year-old veteran. After three-straight Pro Bowl seasons from 2016-2018, Rivers regressed in 2019.

For Los Angeles last year, Rivers completed 66 percent of his passes for 4,615 but only tossed 23 touchdowns with 20 interceptions — the second-highest mark of his career.

Despite likely nearing the end of his career, the eight-time Pro Bowler has received considerable interest from various teams across the league including the Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Las Vegas Raiders.
