Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts have had an excellent offseason, but they might not be done making moves just yet. While they have not gone on a spending spree in free agency like many expected them to, they have picked up quite a few quality players on both sides of the football. Now, there is one guy that they might still look to bring in.

According to a report from Mike Chappell of Fox 59 in Indianapolis, the Colts are interested in signing recently released star defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed the Colts have a level of interest in the 6′ 4″, 300-pound McCoy. They either have had or will have internal discussions regarding whether to actively pursue him.

That is interesting news for the Colts and they certainly have the ability to get him if they want him. The Colts still have the most cap space in football and could offer McCoy the chance to seriously contend for a Super Bowl over the next couple of years.

While McCoy has seen his numbers decrease a bit over the last couple of seasons, he would be a major addition to the Colts' defensive line. They have a lot of talent on the line, but McCoy is a different beast. He also offers the team pass rushing ability from the interior of the line.

Last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McCoy ended up recording 28 total tackles to go along with six sacks and a defended pass. He hasn't been the best fit in Tampa Bay, but that might change with the Colts.

All of that being said, this is certainly something to keep an eye on. The Colts are looking to make the leap into Super Bowl contention in 2019 and adding a talent like McCoy would certainly help that goal.
