Philip Rivers has found his groove in recent weeks with the Indianapolis Colts, which has led some to believe he could be back next season.

Colts head coach Frank Reich thinks the 39-year-old Rivers has plenty left in the tank:

“At the way he's playing right now … if he wants, he has multiple years of good football ahead of him,” Reich said, via ESPN's Mike Wells.

To begin the season, it seemed as if Rivers was struggling to get acclimated to Reich's offense. The veteran quarterback threw for only 1,227 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions in his first five starts for the Colts.

However, in the past eight games, Rivers has seemingly flipped a switch despite playing with a toe injury that will likely require surgery in the offseason. Over the past eight games, he notched 2,280 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions.

In response to Rivers' recent play, Reich said his confidence in Rivers has never wavered:

“Never been a doubt in my mind the kind of football Philip Rivers could play and would play this year and has played,” Reich said. “Had that much confidence in him, so it wasn't a hard decision. Yeah you're putting your neck on the line for somebody, but OK, this is the kind of guy you want to put your neck on the line for.”

Above all, Indianapolis boasts a 9-4 record, which is two more wins than the franchise had a season ago. Even though some people believe the Colts will be in the market for a new quarterback in 2021, Frank Reich seems to believe Philip Rivers could be back under center next season.

Sticking with the present, though, Rivers is in good position to keep his hot streak going this weekend against the lowly Houston Texans, who just gave up 36 points to the Chicago Bears.
